Assistant Pastor Position

Calvary Wesleyan Church is a growing church-community in central Delaware committed to helping all people find and follow Jesus Christ. We are prayerfully seeking an Assistant Pastor to join our team and partner with us in the ongoing work of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. Below are the basic qualifications and primary responsibilities of the position:

Basic Qualifications

- Live out a Spirit-led life surrendered to the will of God alone.
- Clearly articulate a calling to vocationally participate in the ongoing ministry of Jesus Christ.
- Demonstrate personal maturity and work ethic honoring to the Lord.
- Willingness to pursue additional ministerial development/education as needed.
- Fit the values, ministry philosophy, and staff expectations of Calvary Wesleyan Church.

*Strong preference for this position will be given to candidates who have a robust background in a primary ministry context (i.e. Discipleship, Student Ministry, Kid Ministry, etc.)

Primary Responsibilities

Partner with the Executive Team to implement the vision in which Calvary Wesleyan seeks to help all people find and follow Jesus Christ.
Support, guide, and empower the formation staff team and residents of Calvary Wesleyan toward vision alignment (i.e. Student Ministry, Kid Ministry, Small Groups, etc.)
- Call and empower the people of the church-community to share in the ongoing work of Jesus.
- Recruit and develop leaders who will disciple others within and beyond the church-community.
- Assist the Lead Pastor in congregational care (i.e. visitation, guest follow up, community outreach, etc.)
- Assist the Lead Pastor in leading special services (i.e. funerals, weddings, special service elements, etc.)
- Assist the Lead Pastor in shaping the fiscal/budgetary direction of the church-community.
- Collaborate with other staff members on content planning and development for the church-community.  
- Equip the church-community through regularly preaching in the team rotation for Sunday morning worship and other preaching contexts as needed.

This position reports to the Lead Pastor and sits on the Executive Team with the directors of Church Operations as well as the Worship and Creative Teams. The direct reports for this position include our staff team and residents who lead: Student Ministry, Calvary Kids, Hospitality, Discipleship, and Missions.

Employment Status: Full-Time with benefits.
